December 11, 2003 Five years and one day. And not a site redesign to report.
January 10th, 2003 I just found out that my senior-year clinic project was posted to Slashdot a while back. Now I'm officially l33t.
December 10, 2002 Happy 4rd birthday news page! No, I haven't redesigned the website in four years. Sigh.
July 24, 2002 It only took me a month to put Europe pictures online.
May 19, 2002 I just graduated. Yay!
May 3, 2002 It's 6:30 AM, and I'm still awake, all because of a miswired cable. Stupid cable.
May 2, 2002 A bittersweet moment: my last class at Mudd.
March 20, 2002 For the first time in recent memory, I purchased a book solely for pleasure reading (no, I'm not counting Wireless Crash Course because, well, that's embarrasing). Michael Moore's Stupid White Men is great.
The starting pay for a pilot at American Eagle is $16,800 a year. Never let someone fly you up in the air who's making less than the kid at Taco Bell.
February 5, 2002 Signs rex screws with your head: I had a recursive dream last night.
January 26, 2002 Someone just told me, "You have a future in the Muppet business." I'm not sure what that means, but it's a good thing, I think.
December 26, 2001 I want to make a science-oriented television show. I'm thinking that the show would pick up where Bill Nye the Science Guy left off: education of youth in things scientific. But maybe the target audience would be a bit older, so I could cover fun topics like digital logic, robotics, and calculus. OK, maybe not calculus.
December 10, 2001 The temperature page is up and running again, with a snazzy new bus protocol (no, I don't have too much free time, just too much ambition). Maybe it'll be more stable than the last one. Remember when the temperature dipped below 0°F in May?
December 10, 2001 Happy 3rd birthday news page!
December 6, 2001 Tonsilitis is no fun. Especially when the first doctor you see doesn't correctly diagnose it, and randomly throws some antibiotics at you. Augmentin is my friend.
November 18, 2001 OK, fine, so this news entry is retroactive. Anyhow, I went into the mountains to look watch the Leonids pelt the atmosphere, and it was nothing short of spectacular.
September 4, 2001 Worst Scrippsie drenching ever.
July 15, 2001 If you're really bored, see what sorts of television shows I like to watch.
May 4, 2001 Puddlejump through the eyes of Campus Security. Note the call which "says there's about 100 students chanting 'Scrippsies' in the area of Frankel/Routt." Damn hooligans!
April 24, 2001 Clinic dinner for 21: $850.46.
March 14, 2001 After riding 23.5 miles from Sunset Ridge to Mudd, I really need to sleep. And drink some water. And defrost my poor toes.
February 27, 2001 The product of a light homework week: Dodds or Hastings.
February 11, 2001 It's 5:00 AM. Star just said to me, "So we have kayaking at 10:00 AM this morning." I love my suitemates! "At least I told you," she says.
January 16, 2001 I'm back at school. A few power outages occured over break, and the newfangled UPS-to-computer cable (along with the software I wrote...) worked flawlessly. I also added 256MB RAM and a new mouse to pangaea, and found some time to take some pictures.
December 10, 2000 Happy 2nd birthday news page!
December 9, 2000 Recently added to the school projects section: an explanation of laser diodes and a short computer music composition.

In other news, Natalie, a rather outspoken critic of my site's format, has her own page. For the record, it doesn't have universal links to its front page, either.

November 16, 2000 Pangaea has been up and down like a ... thing that goes up and down a lot. Southern California Edison likes telling the 5C Physical Plant to turn off power to HMC (and the other colleges). Bound by contract, they do, and shortly thereafter pangaea's UPS runs out of energy. Larger batteries are on order.
November 5, 2000 To the anonymous outside caller (Steve?) who left a message 5:41 PM: pangaea was down because I attempted to upgrade glibc without booting from another disk. When glibc was removed, basic functions such as cp and mv stopped working. I made some boot disks on Jason's computer, ate a wonderful steak dinner at Platt, and returned to bring the computer back up.
October 19, 2000 Nearly two years later, the E4 Project Page is finally online.
September 17, 2000 I'm back at school, and have finally resurrected the sleep and temperature pages. I hope they still work...
July 24, 2000 More productivity: the CSU98 directory.
July 22, 2000 Just added: a way to see what weird searches bring people to the LED sign logfile.
June 7, 2000 Amusing fact of the day: This site's "about the author" page is the fourth hit returned from an MSN search for mudd shorts. Disturbing, huh?
May 14, 2000 Wow, today was a busy day. I met Bill Nye, moved from Claremont to Redwood City, and began to miss ethernet.
April 18, 2000 There's a new logo on the front page.
April 2, 2000 I just stuck my resume online. Enjoy!
March 24, 2000 The PIC processor which controls the sleep sensor managed to erase its own memory. A quick reprogramming fixed the bug.
March 4, 2000 Bill Nye will be speaking at HMC's graduation this year. Yay!
February 12, 2000 I just finished a web interface to the temperature sensor. Thanks to a new interface system, I can attach more devices to the same serial port on my computer. So go ahead, indulge, and find out what the temperature is in Claremont.
January 16, 2000 Whee! It's a new century, this computer has been running for 33 days (through New Year's, I might add), and I'm back at school! What a difference a vacation makes.
December 19, 1999 Thanks to our friends at the engineering department, it's Sunday December 19th and I'm still at school. But I leave in about seven hours. In better news, it looks like I passed Stems. The todo list has been updated to reflect this accomplishment.
December 10, 1999 Happy birthday news page!
December 9, 1999 Two more days of classes... no more physics recitation!
November 24, 1999 It's 7 AM, it's getting bright outside, but the tech report is done, and I go home for Thanksgiving today. Yay!
November 22, 1999 In a flash of creative genius, I created a few banners for people to put up on their web pages.
November 20, 1999 Looks like the sleep page is up and running again. I forgot to change the IRQs and port settings for my expansion card.
November 19, 1999 I'm finally running a glibc2-based linux distribution. I just finished upgrading to Slackware 7.0. Now I can run Mozilla and lots of other fun apps without crashes... yay!

In reformatting my hard drive, I also increased the size of the swap partition four times over, from 64 MB to 256 MB. I really hope I don't run out of swap anytime soon. All these changes should lead to a more stable system.

November 17, 1999 The Leonids are here! The Leonids are here! That's a meteor shower, not a race of invading people, by the way.
November 16, 1999 New to the webpage: a collection of things I need to do before I pass on.
November 2, 1999 IM volleyball vs. CMC Apartments: North B comes back from a 4-14 score to win the set 16-14. We win the game by taking the second set 15-3. Justin seems way too happy about the win.
October 31, 1999 In celebration of Halloween, I decided to upgrade Apache from 1.2.6 to 1.3.9, and revive the sleep page. Yay!

Or maybe I just had nothing better to do...

October 22, 1999 Due to popular demand, the news page has been updated.
August 29, 1999 I'm now back at school.
May 10, 1999 Finals week! I'm done on the 13th. Then I go home.
May 3, 1999 The joys of registration. Luckily, I got 187 of about 200. Looks like I can take one of E53, Bio 52 or Math 82. Damnit.
April 12, 1999 I just filed my first income tax return. Wow, that was creepy.
April 5, 1999 WGIABFW! WGIABFW! WGIABFW! Ahh, that's better.
March 29, 1999 No, I haven't been sleeping for the past 33 hours. The sleep sensor got stuck.
March 21, 1999 Back to dorm sweet dorm.
March 16, 1999 As of 9:30 AM, I'm home for spring break. Be back Sunday...
March 7, 1999 A new addition to the pointless analysis of data: mgrt. This tool graphs network traffic over interfaces. In my case, eth0. To see the graphs, try the netstats page.
March 5, 1999 I just got gEDA compiled and running. This should eventually mean schematics and such appearing in the eng pages. It's a cool program. Check it out.
March 3, 1999 Wow, what an evil three weeks it's been. Looking at things from just the school perspective: chem exam (class average: 54), physics exam (class average: 58), linear algebra exam (class average: 86), humanities paper, lots of random homework, chem assignments even the graders warn us about... ugh. But the end is in sight. 03/10/99. Then spring break...
February 13, 1999 I just installed Linux kernel 2.2. Presently, everything's going well with pangaea and the new kernel.
January 17, 1999 I'm back at school. And I'm on this evil invention called "grades". Oh no, performance-based reviews. Eep!
December 16, 1998 As of 4:37 PM, I have no more reasons to think in 1998. Yes, finals are over. I leave for good ol' Redwood City tomorrow night.
December 11, 1998 Today was my last day of pass/fail classes at Mudd. Now only 9 hours of standardized testing stand between me and a month of relaxation.
December 11, 1998 This news page was created to show everyone how much exciting stuff is happening in my life.
December 10, 1998 I added graph functionality to the sleep page.
